London Court Flats

We need your help!

Did you know that London Court was built with 24 one bedroom flats?

The Museum of Perth has been given the opportunity to occupy one of the flats. Our plan is to restore the flat to its 1937 appearance and operate it as a local history centre; allowing members of the public to visit and help us celebrate the unique stories of the building and its tenants.

We need help to remove shabby carpet, clean and paint walls, remove redundant telephone cabling and to research the original furnishings and finishes so that we can restore the flat to an original condition. Are you handy on the tools? Are you a tiler or an electrician? Perhaps you're an antique dealer? We need your help!

We estimate that a full restoration might take perhaps $10,000 - but with your assistance that will become much more affordable.

London Court Bookshop "Can you volunteer a few hours a week to staff our antiquarian bookshop?"

Fundraising (Do you have skills (or a desire to learn) in rustling up funding for worthwhile causes? A quiz night, pitches to local philanthropists, grant-writing, selling books or other creative ideas to help us raise the funds required?)

Volunteer Management (Keeping everyone on track to achieve common goals, fielding questions from potential volunteers and allocating them appropriately, managing emails, website or Facebook group)

Furntiure / furnishings (Sourcing items to furnish our flat for free, or very cheap). Researching appropriate furnishings that fit the era

Historical research (Biographical writing, Trove research, Genealogical research to track down former residents, business owners or their family to interview).

Construction and restoration (are you a sparkie, a painter or an eager amateur keen to get your hands dirty with cleaning, painting, tiling, sanding and the rest?)

Promotion (Can you write a good press release, or pitch a story to a local paper? Are you interested to interview fellow volunteers to learn more about their interest and involvement? Can you take a nice photograph, or perhaps conduct video interviews?
