This rather significant shot from 1984 shows Newman College Junior School in its first year at Peebles Road, Floreat. Today it is Newman College's Marian Campus, providing co-education for our little ones from Pre-Kindy to Year 2.
This campus was built in 1961 and operated as Brigidine College from 1962 to 1982.
In 1983 there was an amalgamation between Our Lady of Victories Brigidine Primary School, Wembley, and St Joseph’s Brigidine Primary School, Subiaco. They ran together on the Floreat campus as St Joseph’s Brigidine School, under Principal Sister Gemma Hoban, providing coeducation to Year 4.
In 1984 the School then officially became Newman College Junior School (Brigidine Campus).
Five Brigidine Sisters remained on staff under Brother Paul O’Brien (Principal, Newman College Junior School, 1979-1985). They are, left to right:
Sisters Brigid McClements (an original 'Cowshed Girl'), Denise Lewis, Gemma Hoban (Principal), Dorothea Hickey and Jean Linklater.
