Stacey has extensive experience in designing and building edible gardens, working with community groups and teaching permaculture, organic gardening and regenerative agriculture. She is experienced at planning garden production to produce seasonal vegetables and fruits, and teaching all facets of growing nutrient dense food by creating participatory learning spaces.
For the past 15 months, Stacey was a horticultural facilitator in Fitzroy Crossing. In this role she worked on remote aboriginal communities training CDP participants to grow and cook their own organic food. Prior to this role she was the garden specialist and program coordinator for 6 years in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program at primary school in the Perth Hills. Here she planned and taught gardening lessons to grades K-6, and managed and maintained a large school kitchen garden and orchard. As program coordinator she also regularly assisted the kitchen specialist with planning and implementing weekly cooking classes.
Stacey has Certificate III in Production Horticulture from Great Southern TAFE, has undertaken a Permaculture Internship, several Permaculture Design Certificates, an Advanced Permaculture Teacher Trainer Certificate, a Certificate in teaching Nature Pedagogy (outdoor learning), managed several large production gardens, and has grown garlic commercially. Stacey has also run her own successful business Powderbark Permaculture teaching workshops for local community groups, local government bodies and libraries.
Stacey is passionate about giving people the knowledge and experience to feel confident in planning, growing, harvesting and preparing their own food, and building capacity in their edible food growing skills.
